Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis needed to haul out of a boatloads of money pledge drive for New York gubernatorial up-and-comer Lee Zeldin on Long Island on Sunday in view of an “unexpected misfortune,” the competitor’s rep told The Post.

The Sunshine State Republican was scheduled to show up at a $25,000-a-plate gathering in Oyster Bay.
“An unanticipated misfortune constrained Governor DeSantis to reschedule his outing to New York,” Zeldin representative Katie Vincentz expressed, declining to expound. “While we’re rescheduling with Governor DeSantis for a later date, this evening’s pledge drive will continue and is supposed to raise very nearly 1,000,000 bucks.”

With DeSantis vaulting to public noticeable quality lately, Zeldin has been expecting to add a political wattage to his battle against Democratic Gov. Kathy Hochul.

Hochul has placed Florida and DeSantis targeted as of late, with rehashed assaults on the rising moderate troublemaker.

She fired an unprompted shot at DeSantis at a recent event commemorating the Holocaust.

“I just want to say to the 1.77 million Jews who call New York home: Thank you for calling New York home,”

the governor said.

“Don’t go anywhere or to another state. Florida is overrated.”

The broadsides prompted one New York GOP official to call on Hochul to focus on her home state.

“Hochul should give up her creepy obsession with Florida and focus on the crime and economic crises in her own backyard,”

New York GOP State Committee Chair Nick Langworthy said in a statement Friday.

DeSantis, who faces a re-election fight of his own against Democrat Charlie Crist, has been stumping for Republican candidates in several states in a bid to bolster the GOP’s national standing.
