The UN peacekeeping mission in Mali has for the time being adjourned flights.

This will work against the delivery of aid to the country whose neighbors have forced penalties and closed borders.

The peacekeeping mission has approximately 13,000 troops stationed in the country attempting to contain an Islamist rebellion in the region.

The West African regional bloc Ecowas enforced severe sanctions on Mali following the interim government advancing a delay in elections.

The European Union has as well said it will enforce penalties and the UN has said it is crucial for the military authorities to present an bearable election plan.

The country’s military forced out the president in 2020 and had pledged a change and general elections in February.
