No less than six transients have suffocated and another 30 are absent after the boat they were in inverted off the Tunisian coast.

34 individuals were protected by Tunisian naval force and coastguard vessels.

Survivors said 70 travelers had been on board the boat from a scope of nations including Egypt, Sudan and Morocco.

A Tunisian guard representative said they had set off from Libya and had been expecting to arrive at Europe.

The UN outcast office (UNHCR) says that in the initial nine months of last year, no less than 1,300 travelers vanished or suffocated attempting to cross from North Africa to Italy.
