EU vaccine rollout for 5 to 11-year-olds brought forward

The EU’s roll-out of the Covid vaccine for five to 11-year-olds will start on 13 December – a week earlier than at first planned, German Health Minister Jens Spahn has declared.

He chronicles it as good news for parents and children, saying many are expecting the vaccine keenly.

Germany’s incoming new government has also promised to accelerate the roll-out of the third dose, and this week is anticipated to make public new national limiting measures.

Some German regions with especially high infection rates are so far closing down bars and clubs, and banning fans from football stadiums.

In some places there are as well stronger restrictions, like curfews, for unvaccinated people.
