The authorities in Burkina Faso have declared the apprehension of eight soldiers accused of plotting a coup.
Some of those arrested is Colonel Mohamed Emmanuel Zoungrana – a well-known erstwhile army commander who has allegedly been overcritical of the government.
The justice ministry on Tuesday said an examination on the matter had started.
The last coup in Burkina Faso happened seven years ago when a contentious military unit loyal to the ousted and exiled president, Blaise Compaoré, seized power.
