Conspiracy theorist Alex Jones’ wife was apprehended in Texas on Friday for reported domestic violence, authorities said.
Jones, the right-wing founder of Infowars, lay the blame of the incident on a
“It’s a private family matter that happened on Christmas Eve,”
Jones told The Associated Press.
“I love my wife and care about her, and it appears to be some kind of medication imbalance.”
Jones did not reveal precisely what happened Friday evening nor disclosed if he had suffered any injury.
His wife, Erika Wulff Jones, 43, was nabbed by sheriff’s deputies, who took her into custody and put her into an Austin jail about 8:45 p.m. Friday.
She faces wrongdoing charges of assault causing bodily wound to a family member and resisting arrest, jail records show. She had not received a bond Saturday afternoon.
Jones told the outlet his wife’s apprehension
his fringe political views and that
“it wasn’t some kind of personal hateful thing or anything.”
Last month, a judge ruled Jones is chargeable for defamation following asserting the Sandy Hook school massacre that killed 26 people, including 20 children, in Connecticut in 2012 was a “hoax.”
This week, he sued in a move to block summons he’d been issued by the House committee investigating the fatally Jan. 6 Capitol riot.
